Fast and Furious (2009)

Score: 5/10

Umm, where should I start? Another Fast and Furious movie. This is the fourth of the series (although you may say that the third one, Tokyo Drift, was kind of unrelated). Vin Diesel and other actors from the first movie are back here. The movie starts with Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) in the Dominican Republic. He and his gang involve in many crimes which make them lots of money.

Since FBI is close on his tail, Dominic decides to split up with his gang and also leave his girl friend, Letty (Michelle Rodriguez) so they will not be in danger. One day, he receives a phone call informing that Letty is dead. This unexpected news brings Dominic back to the US since he wants to investigate the cause of the death.

Come into the scene is Brian O’Connor (Paul Walker), an FBI agent who tracks Dominic down and another dangerous crime lord. Afterwards, begin the fights, chase scenes, and women in tiny outfits.

Now, let’s start with my review. What can you expect of this kind of movie anyway? The acting is just ok (even bad in some parts). The story is unbelievably unrealistic. The first chase scene is boring and the setting will never happen in the real world. A truck is pulling many oil tanks on a narrow mountain road. C’mon.

The night chase in the middle of the city sounds interesting. Why oh why there is no single police patrol or whoever, in this case, that tries to capture those cars. Where is the famous police or news chopper during this time?

The chase in the tunnel is better. It is new and perhaps the only glorious moment in the movie. Afterwards, however, I cannot understand what is going on. There are some pointless shootings and a body strength show off from Dominic. The second chase in the tunnel is again back to the unrealistic world. I cannot and do not want to say more than this.

At least the movie is still bearable when it involves cars and chasing. Without them, it is just sad and uninteresting. Will there be a fifth installment? It is possible based on the last scene in the movie. After all, this movie has made a lot of money, right? But, please, next time, back to the reality will you?

"Jump baby, jump!" (Yeah, I know it's lame)
